The weather was beautiful for the Clear Lake Scullers’ traditional New Year’s Day row on Monday. Lakeport mayor Mireya Turner, UC Davis rowing coach and Clear Lake Scullers founder Mike Sullivan as well as nine others rowed the eight-person sweep boat and the quad as well as a four-person sculling shell. Those on the shoreline had a front-row seat to watch the scullers in action between noon and 2 p.m. on New Year’s Day. They will be back on the water regularly in the spring when both the weather and the lake warm up. At that time there will be ample opportunities for newcomers to try out this great sport on beautiful Clear Lake. More information about the club can be found at www.clearlakescullers.org.
