Firefighters quickly put out a fire that fully engulfed a mobile home in Nice on Wednesday.

The structure stood on the 6000 block of Floyd Way, near Merced Street.

According to Northshore Fire Protection District Chief Jay Beristianos, calls were received just after 1:40 p.m. about a large, dark cloud of smoke in the area. Via social media, some locals said they could see the gray fumes from different parts of the county.

Despite the structure fully covered in flames, Beristianos said there were no threats to surrounding homes, nor were any injuries reported. The mobile home is believed to be abandoned, NFPD officials said.

Next-door neighbors Mariah Collins and Kim Admiral said no one is allowed into the property and power remained shut off.

“A few days ago we heard as if someone was in the mobile home when no one is supposed to be in there,” said Collins. “Then today, another neighbor heard arguing, followed by an explosion. Then we heard the ambulance come.”

Collins and Admiral said they hosed down their fence as a preventative measure.

Beristianos said it is still too early to determine the cause of the fire. Crews remained on scene for several hours to ensure full containment and mop up.
