LAKEPORT >> Authorities arrested two people early Sunday after a car chase that began in Mendocino County ended in Lakeport.
The individuals were identified as Ryan Robert Roydowney, 28, and 20-year-old Caytlin Marie Collicott.
According to the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, the chase started in Ukiah and entered Lake County via Highway 20 just after midnight. Lieutenant Corey Paulich with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office said they began assisting Mendocino deputies at approximately 12:35 p.m. near Van Sleeper Rd. in Upper Lake.
“Spike strips were deployed by [a] Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputy near Van Sleeper [Rd.] that disabled the two front tires,” Paulich said.
Despite the attempt to stop the car, a Honda Accord, the chase continued onto Highway 29 toward Lakeport. Radio traffic reported Roydowney, who was behind the wheel, driving south on the northbound lane of Highway 29 with the car’s headlights turned off. Meanwhile, MCSO said Collicott was throwing objects out of the vehicle.
No accidents were reported as a result of the reckless driving.
The chase ended after the car came to a stop on a hillside near the northbound exit of Lakeport Boulevard, where the suspect fled on foot, Paulich said.
With additional help from CHP and the Lakeport Police Department, authorities placed both individuals in custody.
Collicott has a bond amount set at $15,000, as listed on the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office booking page. Roydowney’s total bond amount is $50,000 for multiple offenses including receiving stolen property.
