Road Rehabiliation Project Community Open House

The City of Clearlake will provide information and seek input about the future road rehabilitation project on Country Club Drive by hosting a community open house. The open house will take place Wednesday, Jan. 24 at Clearlake City Hall, 14050 Olympic Drive in Clearlake. Free Seminar: Solar for Homeowners

Have you been thinking about going solar, but don’t know who to trust, or what questions to ask prospective solar sellers? Visit Angelina’s Bakery at 365 N. Main St. in Lakeport at 4 p.m. on January 23 for an informative, free seminar on solar energy for homes presented by Carol Cole-Lewis and Denise Rushing, Independent Solar Consultants.

The information will teach the basics of solar energy, and offer the ability to interview with confidence any potential solar provider. You’ll also have the opportunity to see if your home qualifies for solar, and receive multiple proposals for zero-down solar from the best providers in the area.

Homeowners suggested to bring a copy of most recent PG&E bill, and coffee will be provided.

The Lake County Democratic Central Committee will hold its regular monthly business meeting on Thursday, February 1.

The meeting takes place at 6:30 p.m. at Kelseyville Senior Center, 5245 3rd St, Kelseyville.

The agenda for the meeting includes reports from representatives for Congressmen Mike Thompson and John Garamendi, Assemblywoman Cecilia Aguiar-Curry and State Senator Mike McGuire, as well as reports from the representative of the Lake County Democratic Club. Meetings are open to the public and committee membership is open to all registered Democrats.

The Lake County Democratic Central Committee is the official governing body for the Democratic Party in Lake County.

Park & Recreation meeting cancellation

The Regular Meeting of the Lakeport Parks and Recreation Committee, previously scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 1 at 3 p.m. has been cancelled. The next scheduled meeting is March 1 at 3 p.m.

Sweetheart Tea Fund Raiser

The Kelseyville Beta Sigma Phi chapter is hosting a Sweetheart Tea fund raiser to benefit the Kelseyville High School music department and fund scholarships for the high school seniors. The event will be on February 10 from noon-2 p.m. at the KHS Student Center located at 5480 Main St. in Kelseyville.

The formal tea menu will include Spring mix sandwich, English cucumber, hard boiled egg & pesto vegetable sandwich, turkey lettuce wrap, humus cup with vegetables, English breakfast tea, scones, clotted cream, lemon curd, and assorted sweet treats.

The KHS jazz band and choir will be providing the entertainment and there will also be raffle prizes donated by local merchants.

Advance tickets are $20 or $25. at the door for ages 13 and up, and $10 for children 12 and under. Tickets may be purchased from KHS music students, or contact Michelle Meese for tickets at 707-533-9676, mfinster007@yahoo.com.

The Lake County Adult Literacy Program is looking for volunteers to become literacy tutors. The next training session is scheduled for Feb. 6, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Redbud Library, 14785 Burns Valley Rd, Clearlake. The session is free, with a $25 donation for materials.

Rotary in need of clothing donations

The Rotary Club of Clear Lake is requesting donations of new and gently used coats, winter clothing, sleeping bags, and blankets for The Warm For The Winter program. Specific needed items include children’s items such as socks, thermal underwear, hooded sweatshirts, gloves, beanies, rain coats, and rain boots sized toddler and up. This program is intended to provide warm clothing and other winter necessities to community members in need. Drop off locations are at the Clearlake Community/Senior Center at 3245 Bowers Avenue and The Meals On Wheels Thrift Store at 14773 Lakeshore Drive. The Lake County Land Trust offers hikes every 2nd and 4th Saturday at their signature property, the Rodman Preserve and Nature Center, at 6350 Westlake Road, Upper Lake.
