CLEARLAKE OAKS >> Margaret Medeiros, 2017 Association President, opened her final meeting of the year with a little business — 2018 officer elections.

Then, for the 7th time in her 24 years with the Clearlake Oaks-Glenhaven Business Association, Medeiros once again took the helm as President. She, along with all of the 2017 officers were unanimously re-elected by the members to serve in 2018.

“If it’s not broke, I guess there’s no reason to fix it,” Medeiros remarked. “I’m grateful to have the trust of the membership and to be joined on the association Board by such a hard-working dedicated group of officers. We did an excellent job supporting the community in 2017; I know we’ll do even better in 2018!”

The final order of business before the meeting adjourned to the dance floor was a 2017 report on community giving by Treasurer Janice Maschek.

“This year, total community giving was $36,160,” Maschek announced. “I’m so happy to report that in 2017 we contributed more to the community in donations than any year I recall and certainly since I’ve been Treasurer.”

In addition to funding the annual Maxine Sherman fireworks display at a cost of $11,9000, other donations highlighted included: $2,500 for the East Lake Grammar School playground; $5,000 to Lower Lake High for Scholarships and Cheerleading; and a $4,000 contribution for the Lower Lake Youth football program.

Additionally, the association made donations to nineteen various community non-profits ranging from $250 to $1000.

“That’s something to be proud of,” said Medeiros. “Of course, we need to appreciate the wonderful team that puts on our signature fund raiser, the Catfish Derby. The Catfish Derby is the event that makes all this possible,” she said. “They meet year-round to make sure the next year’s Derby is better then the last and I hope to see you all there helping out during the one of a kind 3-day event in May.”

The Clearlake Oaks-Glenhaven Business Association enjoyed a meal catered by Fresh & Bangin’ Eatery followed by an evening of music and dancing to the tunes of “The High Notes,” a local band.

The business Association members include business owners, professionals and citizens invested in supporting the Clearlake Oaks and Glenhaven communities.

“Community involvement and an interest in improving the local business and living environment are the only prerequisites for joining,” Medeiros said. To become a member, contact Gail Jonas at 707-998-3795. The Association meets the fourth Thursday of each month.
