SACRAMENTO >> Mason Roath of the CORE Wrestling club of Lake County won middle school weight division No. 41 on Sunday during the SAWA Championships at Natomas High School in Sacramento.

Medals were awarded to the top three finishers in each weight class and CORE Wrestling brought home five although Roath’s was the only first.

Second-place medals went to Amari Carr in Pee Wee weight division No. 1, to Nikolai McKay in intermediate weight division No. 14, and to Jayden Roath (second place) and Myles Conatser (third) in novice weight division No. 27.

Several other CORE wrestlers finished fourth or fifth. Mason Fuchs was fourth in Pee Wee weight division No. 1, Jesse Saldana-Rivera was fourth in bantam weight division No. 5, Trey Thurman was fourth in intermediate weight division No. 15, Dylan Neuharth was fourth in novice weight division No. 24, and Kevin Atrisco was fourth in middle school weight division No. 41.

Fifth-place finishes went to Alexsis Castellanos in bantam weight division No. 9, and to Boston Heilman in novice weight division No. 25.

CORE Wrestling travels to the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre on Feb. 11 at Vacaville High School.
