MIDDLETOWN >> Inspired by the current show on view at Middletown Art Center, “Obsession” is the theme of this month’s Painting Resilience class.

“We are going to jump right in and explore how our obsessions create more resilience in our lives,” said artist and instructor Sage Abella. “Our obsessions often become our traveling companions in both positive and challenging ways.

“We’ll paint using the Intuitive Painting process. No experience needed and all the beautiful colors of paints and supplies will be waiting for you. This is a great class for experienced painters, too. It’s all about finding and following our creative threads,” she added.

Adults and teens ages 12-up are encouraged to join Sage at MAC this Saturday, February 17, from noon-5 p.m. for just $5. Attendees are suggested to bring a lunch or plan to purchase something in town, and have painting clothes available.

To reserve a spot, visit www.middletownartcenter/org/resilience, or email middletownartcenter@gmail.com as the class fills up.

Participants will have opportunity to participate in Resilience exhibitions in a variety of locations throughout the county in late May and June of this year. They may also submit work for the Resilience Project chapbook of writings and images that will be published at that time.

MAC’s Resilience Project offers Creative Writing as well as Photography, Painting and Printmaking workshops that cycle every first through fourth weekend until the end of May 2018. This project is supported by a grant from the California Arts Council with additional support from Adventist Health and local organizations.

MAC is located at 21456 State Hwy 175 at the junction of Hwy 29 in the heart of Middletown. MAC’s current exhibit “Obsession” is on view through March 24. The MAC Gallery is open Thursday 11-4, Friday 11-6, Saturday 10-6 and Sunday 11-4. Visit www.middletownartcenter.org to learn more.
