LAKEPORT >> Four men were arrested earlier this week after the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit located an active butane honey oil lab and several pounds of marijuana in Lakeport.
Detectives served a search warrant at an office space on Skypark Drive, where the lab was reportedly set up and in operation. Approximately 10 pounds of marijuana shake, 92 grams of concentrated cannabis and additionally concentrated cannabis were seized from the lab.
Those allegedly responsible for running the lab were identified as Kelseyville resident Dustin Lee Brey, 44; Cody Alan Harrell, 30, of Springfield, Missouri; Justin Michael Richardson, 21, of Summerfield, Florida; and a fourth male whose identity was not released by the Sheriff’s Office.
According to Lake County Sheriff Lt. Corey Paulich, Brey admitted to purchasing the BHOGART BHO lab, taking multiple classes to know how to operate the “closed loop” lab properly, and renting the office area to produce butane honey oil.
The substance, where the oil can be vaporized and inhaled without the odor to create a potent high, has grown on the cannabis market.
Brey reportedly told authorities the other males at the location were not responsible for the lab.
Detectives had him close down the site. Lakeport Fire and detectives then dismantled the BHO lab after all drugs were extracted.
Paulich said Brey was arrested for violation of a California Health and Safety Code for manufacturing a controlled substance. He was booked into the Lake County Jail with a bail set at $100,000.
Harrell and Richardson remained in custody with no bail, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s website. Harrell had a Fugitive from Justice Warrant out of Missouri and told detectives he fled the state after violating parole. Richardson was also arrested on an outstanding warrant from Florida for possession of marijuana.
The fourth male was released with no charges.
