UKIAH >> Terrace Middle School sent nine wrestlers to the Pomolita Invitational Middle School Wrestling Tournament on Saturday in Ukiah and seven returned home with medals of some sort.
Terrace wrestlers claimed four firsts, two seconds and a third. As a team, the girls placed third and the boys fifth.
In the varsity boys division, Blake Moak won the 275-pound division with a 2-0 record, including one pin. Hayden Fowler came in second with a 1-1 record at 110 pounds, and Liam Davis finished fourth at 134 pounds.
In the varsity girls division, Kiley Bartell claimed the 134-pound division with a 2-0 record that featured two pins. Ashley Pyorre came in second at 103 pounds with a 2-1 record, including one pin.
In the junior varsity boys division, Elijah Alvarez went 4-0 with three pins to win the 124-pound division. Anthony Gersailia also went 2-0 to finish first. A third-place medal went to Uzziel Alvarez with a 2-2 record and two pins. Asher Reese came in sixth.
“I thought they all did great,” Terrace head coach Troy Davis said. “Most of the other teams we faced started back in January while we came in with only six days of practice.”
