The Clear Lake Cardinals (24-5) take the court Saturday night to play Modoc (17-11) in the quarterfinal round of the Northern California Division V playoffs. Tip-off is 6 p.m. at the Clear Lake High School gym in Lakeport. Clear Lake, the No. 2 seed in the original 15-team field, beat Golden Sierra 59-38 to reach the quarterfinals while 10th-seeded Modoc from Alturas upset No. 7 Capital Christian 52-41 in first-round action. A veteran-dominated team, the Cardinals start four seniors — guards Valerie Huttion and Camille Donald and posts Kiana Richardson and Corin Alakszay — and a junior — guard Kortnie Reynolds. All are multi-year varsity veterans. The Clear Lake-Modoc winner draws the Argonaut-Durham winner next Wednesday in the semifinals. Clear Lake would host that game if it beats Modoc.
