CLEARLAKE >> Former Clearlake City Councilmember Russell Perdock was awarded a plaque for his time on the council and his efforts toward the city.
The plaque was presented by current Mayor of Clearlake Bruno Sabatier, who was voted onto the council with Perdock was in 2014. He said when they were first elected they were both sent to Sacramento for training and had a chance to get to know each other.
“Had dinner together, breakfast together, went to sessions together and over the course of the year we have found ourselves a lot of common ground and I feel that we, together, with new staff and city council, have really changed and turned around where we were heading before we got on council,” Sabatier said.
He added that this was one of the reasons he and Perdock decided to get on City Council, to make the positive changes they wanted to for the Clearlake.
“Every step of the way we would have conversations, disagree and really show that we could disagree in a really amiable way or find a lot of ways on how we could agree on what we wanted to see in the city,” Sabatier said. “Right next to me happens to be a really good friend of mine.”
With the vision of the two and the rest of the council, Sabatier said the city has seen a positive change with the help of Perdock and all of those who have contributed.
Perdock said it was an honor to serve on the council and will continue to move forward with working to make the city a better place and push the momentum that has already been created.
“I had to leave because I felt I had another calling and I want to pursue that avenue. It is very important to me and the city is also very important to me,” Perdock said. “I wish everyone nothing but the best as we continue to move this city forward and make it a cleaner, safer and better place to live.
Perdock served as Mayor before leaving the council and is looking to run for the Chief of Police post.
