FORESTVILLE >> Will Aiden and Jimmy Rockwell belted solo home runs while winning pitcher Isaac Perez helped his own cause at the plate as the Middletown Mustangs beat El Molino 10-6 in non-league junior varsity baseball action at Forestville.

The win over the Lions combined with Middletown’s home doubleheader sweep of Healdsburg on Saturday boosts the Mustangs’ season record to 5-0.

Perez worked 4 1/3 innings for the win against El Molino with relief help from R.H. Hess and Aiden. He also went 3-for-5 with two RBIs, one of five Middletown players with two or more hits. The others were Rockwell (2-for-4), Hess (2-for-4), Nico Barrio (2-for-5) and Cameron Luis (2-for-5).

Aiden homered in the second inning and Rockwell in the third.

In Middletown’s doubleheader sweep of Healdsburg, the Mustangs won game one 2-1 behind a complete-game three-hitter by Luis, who struck out five. The Mustangs trailed 1-0 until Aiden’s RBI single in the bottom of the sixth knotted the score. They won it in the seventh on a Perez walk-off single that brought home Barrio from third base.

Middletown cruised to a 14-4 win in game two, which was called after 4 ½ innings because of the 10-run mercy rule. Rockwell pitched 3 2/3 innings for the victory, striking out five. He was backed by a Middletown offense that raked the ball from first pitch to last. Tyler Crudo went 3-for-3 and scored three times, Perez continued his hot-hitting ways by going 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and four runs scored, Aiden went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and Rockwell singled and doubled to knock in three runs. Barrio also had two hits.

Weather permitting, the Mustangs host El Molino on Thursday at 4 p.m.
