A 43-year-old Sacramento man was arrested Sunday night with a gun and burglary tools while reportedly prowling outside a Ukiah convenience store, the Ukiah Police Department reported.

According to the UPD, an officer saw a man outside the Prime Market at the corner of West Mill and South Oak streets around 10:35 p.m. March 18 who the officer suspected was trying to break into the business.

While talking to the man, identified as Julian J. Salazar IV, 43, of Sacramento, the officer allegedly found a concealed and loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun on him, as well as a meth-smoking pipe and burglary tools, including bolt cutters, metal files, pliers and chisels.

Describing Salazar as a convicted felon, the officer arrested him on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a handgun, carrying a concealed and loaded firearm in public and possessing both burglary tools and drug paraphernalia.

Salazar was booked into Mendocino County Jail under $25,000 bail.
