Catch Berton-Devore and Tanner Broyles of Skycatch Gymnastics of Lakeport didn’t come away empty-handed from their inaugural Level 9 appearance at the NorCal 2018 Men’s Level 6-10 State Championships on Saturday in Oroville. Although both gymnasts were just hoping to make a good showing in the 15-16 age division, they both came away with medals from the competition, which features many of the state’s best gymnasts. Berton-Devore placed third overall in rings while Broyles came in ninth in the floor exercise. The state championship meet closes out the season for both gymnasts, who will likely spend one more year competing at Level 9 before making the jump to Level 10, which is as high as they can go. Berton-Devore and Broyles medaled at every event they attended this season. - Photo by Brian Sumpter — Record-Bee
