When the ship comes in, you don’t want to be at the airport. The recent 18 months in Lake County have seen our Commercial property market definitely move into positive escalation. The signs became symbols and the symbols have become solid activity, firm transactions and more excellent prospects!
If we had to point to a sterling example of patience paying off in the long run, we can point right at the long awaited, just closed, Konocti Harbor sale. It is not an exaggeration to say that the entire collective community of Lake County has been holding its breath and anxiously hoping for the right buyer!
Your Lake County commercial market is steadily building momentum. In my last two articles I have basically thrown down the gauntlet, hoping to excite and inspire action on the part of Buyers and Sellers in our region. All one needs to do — if one is really, really skeptical — is look at a bit of history from our southern counties! From Sausalito in Marin County, to Petaluma in Sonoma County, to Cloverdale in Mendocino County, the growth symptoms we are experiencing right now ring true. At earlier moments in time, those Counties and the towns within them had to do a reality check — an honest look — at their need for renovation, repair, cleanup, re-build, new-build and positive outreach marketing of their characteristics, natural benefits, advantages and opportunities.
Yes. It’s fair to say that I am speaking directly from the midst of the Lake County Commercial real estate market. Business is good — and gradually improving! The position from which I am speaking is one that allows me to be informed — and to bring an accurate and positive message straight to you. Investors have been looking to buy in Lake County for while now because they feel this is where the bargains are.
The long awaited action on the Konocti Harbor commercial property will truly be the bell-weather that will increase buyer and seller confidence for our region. Whenever there are substantial good moves in one part of a local economy, it inspires and accelerates action of the same kind in other parts — because confidence is contagious!
Lake County has been taking a one-two punch every year for a long time now and I believe this year is the start of a big recovery. Timing is everything! If you have been “thinking about it,” or “holding back until the time was right,” hesitating now would be the same as shooting yourself in the foot before the marathon… On the other hand, if you have been listed for a while and feel a bit skeptical, I believe your patience will ultimately prove worthwhile.
We have an incredibly beautiful Lake with shores just begging for enhancements — such as that Promenade that is being discussed and is slowly coming under consideration! Can you imagine such future configurations and relate them to how they would impact our very desirable tourism market?
With careful growth management of our Lake County potential we could — and I think we will — be hosting an exciting and greatly increased tourism aspect — comparable to the best!
The health of our local Commercial real estate market will and must drive the overall economic health of this county. Just as our local permanent population demands solid and dependable goods, services and infrastructure, our future demands that our growth and progress be pro-active, balanced, imaginative, innovative — and brave!
So, I ask again: Are you going to be part of the dragline or part of the excitement? Together, we should power forward!
