
SANTA ROSA >> Three Middletown High School track and field records fell on Friday night during the Twilight Relays at Santa Rose Junior College.
Athletes from Middletown, Lower Lake and Clear Lake high schools all made their presence known during the annual meet, which draws the top track and field athletes, both large school and small, in the Redwood Empire.
Middletown athletes accounted for a number of memorable moments. Sprinting star Kelsey Lemoine, a junior, finished third in the 100-meter invitational race with a time of 13.72 seconds, and she added a second-place time of 27.23 in the 200 open.
Junior Taelor Roderick set school records in both the shotput and discus. In the shotput, she finished fourth overall with a toss of 30 feet, 4 ½ inches. Her fifth-place throw in the discus was 86-9.
Among other girls highlights, Clear Lake junior Tianna Jardstrom competed in the 800 invitational and placed ninth overall in 2 minutes, 30.57 seconds. Middletown junior Alyssa Hart placed fifth in the open division of the 100 high hurdles (18.52) and eighth in the open division of the 300 low hurdles (55.79).
Also for Middletown, junior Hanna Morris was seventh in the shotput (28-8 ½) while senior Amy Herrmann was eighth in the high jump (4-8).
Boys
Middletown’s Jeff Morris had a strong season in basketball for the Mustangs and he’s off to a good start this spring as a high jumper. Morris cleared a school-record 6 feet to finish second overall, the highest finish by any Lake County boy at the Twilight Relays.
Lower Lake’s Bryson Trask added a third in the discus at 136-2 and a sixth in the shotput at 41-2 ¼. Middletown’s Colton Hall was seventh in the discus (130-0) and eighth in the shotput (40-5 ¼).
Also for Middletown, Evan Dodd placed eighth in the 110 high hurdles at 18.38.
