According to the California Highway Patrol, the 50-year-old man was driving a 2008 Buell motorcycle northbound on Highway 29, north of Highway 175 toward Hopland around 7:18 p.m. when he looked away from the road.
“Due to his inattention,” CHP officer Piers Pritt said the man allowed his vehicle to cross over the double yellow lines in front of an oncoming car traveling southbound on Highway 29. Tyler J. Knudsen, 29, was behind the wheel of a 2007 Dodge with passenger Brenda Torres, 22, both of Middletown. Both were reported to have suffered no injuries.
Investigating officer Pritt said drugs and alcohol did not contribute to the collision. The identity of the man is currently withheld, pending notifications to relatives, he added.
