LAKEPORT >> The Clear Lake High School baseball program is hosting a pancake breakfast fundraiser on April 21 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Terrace Middle School multipurpose room, 250 Lange Street in Lakeport.

This event will raise money for the Cardinal baseball program and is being coordinated by varsity player Jason Garrison as part of his senior project. Garrison said it his way of giving back to a program and community that has allowed him to play a sport he loves while also raising money for future facility improvements, new uniforms, equipment and other needs.

Tickets are $7. Breakfast include pancakes, sausage and a beverage. Tickets are available now from all Clear Lake High varsity and junior varsity players. Tickets also can be purchased at the door.

Following the fundraiser a baseball clinic put on by the varsity and JV players takes place from noon to 2 p.m. at the baseball field. The clinic is free and open to all Little League-age kids (6 to 12).

Cheer camp offered

LAKEPORT >> Camp Cardinal, a youth cheerleading camp for boys and girls in kindergarten through the sixth grade, takes place April 28 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Marge Alakszay Center on the Clear Lake High School campus.

There is a $25 registration fee that includes food and a T-shirt.

Campers will learn basic cheer skills and dance moves. You can register at the Clear Lake High School office.

Call Courtney McIntosh for (209) 992-9028.

Obstacle course

LAKEPORT >> The late Rob Rumfelt, former Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy and assistant football coach at Clear Lake High School, is being honored with the inaugural “The Rummy Skull Crusher” on April 21 in Lakeport.

The event is a mud obstacle course that will test both the mental and physical abilities of those who compete in the fundraiser. The difficult course setup will show its participants no mercy, according to Carina Martinez-Lopez, a Clear Lake High School student who created the event as part of her senior project.

All proceeds go toward a memorial for Rumfelt at the high school and to help CHP Explorer Post 151. If you register before April 21, the cost is $25 for an individual or $80 for a group of four. Prices go up the day of the event.

The course will cover portions of Lakeport Elementary, Terrace Middle School and Clear Lake High School. The registration fee includes a T-shirt while supplies last.

You can register on Evenbrite and type in “Rummy Skull Crusher.” Call or text Martinez-Lopez at 972-2544 or send her an email at carina13mtz@gmail.com for more information.

Clinics offered

LAKEPORT >> Volleyball clinics for girls in the sixth through eighth grades will be held Sundays from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Clear Lake High School gym through May 20.

The cost to attend is $5 per session and all proceeds benefit the Clear Lake High School volleyball program.

Each clinic will run like a true camp where athletes can learn new skills and sharpen the skills they already possess. There will be fun and competitive games that help you master your skills and become better all-around players.

The clinics are coached by Marci Psalmonds, the varsity head coach at Clear Lake High School.

Because of holidays and special occasions, some of the Sunday sessions may not take place. Call Psalmonds at 349-0172 for more information.
