NAPA >> Jimmy Rockwell flirted with a perfect game while pitching a six-inning no-hitter on Monday afternoon as the undefeated Middletown High School junior varsity baseball team shut out the Justin-Siena Braves 10-0 in non-league action at Napa.

Rockwell allowed only two Justin-Siena batters to reach base, the result of Middletown’s lone error on a dropped popup at third base in the fourth inning, and a walk issued in the sixth.

“He was definitely in command of the zone,” Middletown coach Jon Hoogendoorn said. “He’s pitched 10 straight innings without giving up a hit. He mixes it up pretty good and he did a really good job of locating his pitches.”

Rockwell also struck out 12, including the side in the fourth and sixth innings.

Middletown’s offense provided more than enough to pop to give the Mustangs their 10th win in 10 games, including a 4-for-4 day by Will Aden, who doubled and hit a three-run home run. He finished with four RBIs. Nico Barrio went 3-for-4 with two doubles and scored three times, and Isaac Perez went 2-for-3 with a RBI. Rockwell (1-for-3) also drove in two runs while Zach Pyzer collected his first hit of the season.

Middletown resumes its North Central League I schedule Friday at home against Cloverdale at 4 p.m.
