LAKE COUNTY >> The Lakeport Police Department is currently seeking the whereabouts of a 70-year-old public disclosure sex offender who was last seen in Lakeport.
As required by law, Lawrence Clayton Jelks had failed to register as a sex offender and is in violation of the felony, which requires registration in the jurisdiction where the person lives, according to LPD.
In February of last year, the Clearlake Police Department reported they had arrested him for the same reason after the Lake County Sheriff’s Office had issued a warrant for Jelks. After receiving several tips from the public, authorities arrested him and he was then transported to the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility.
Once more, police are asking that anyone with information regarding Jelks whereabouts should call police officers via a Facebook message, send an anonymous text message by texting “TIP LAKEPORT” followed by your message to 888777 or by call 707-263-5491.
