CLEARLAKE >> After reports of physically assaulting his wife, a Clearlake man was recently arrested for alleged felony domestic violence and resisting arrest, according to the Clearlake Police Department.
The man, identified as 36-year-old Carmelo Zepeda Hernandez, had fled the residence in the 3900 block of Vista Robles Way before officers arrived at the scene, according to Clearlake Police Sgt. Elvis Cook.
The report came in at 10:05 p.m. on Sunday, April 15 and by 1:30 a.m. Monday, Carmelo was reported to be back at the residence, attempting to break the front door down.
Harden and other officers arrived at the scene and established a perimeter around the home. When law enforcement arrived, Hernandez fled once again.
“Carmelo was reported to be violent, and was possibly armed with a knife,” Cook said.
Despite multiple police canine announcements, the suspect did not comply with Harden’s orders to surrender, Cook added. As a result, the officer deployed his Police K9, known as “Zip,” to apprehend Hernandez.
“After being apprehended by Zip, Carmelo continued to resist and was taken into custody with the assistance of several officers,” said Cook.
Hernandez was treated at Adventist Health Hospital in Clearlake before being transported to the Lake County Jail, with a bail amount set at $25,000.
