SANTA ROSA >> Middletown High School track and field standouts Kelsey Lemoine and Taelor Roderick, both juniors, placed high in two events during the ultra-competitive Viking Classic on Satruday at Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa.

Primarily a meet for large schools, the Viking Classic attracted a total of 32 teams from McKinleyville to the Bay Area and featured some of the top athletes in the state.

Lemoine placed sixth in both the 100 meters (13.03 seconds) and the 200 (27.34) while Roderick tied for seventh in the shotput with a toss of 29 feet, ½ inch, and finished seventh in the discus with a throw of 94-6.

Another Lake County standout, Clear Lake junior Tianna Jardstrom, finished 13th in the 800 at 2 minutes, 33.02 seconds.

Former Kelseyville star Andre Williams, now a student at Sonoma Academy in Santa Rosa, finished third in the 3,200 in (9:45.61).
