KELSEYVILLE >> Celebrating mothers locally and around the world on Saturday, May 12, Worldwide Healing Hands is hosting the fifth annual ‘Hike 4 Healing’ where friends and supporters walk up Mount Konocti’s Wright Summit trail.

This annual trek is a fundraiser that supports the work of WHH in Lake County as well as underserved areas of the world.

“The Hike 4 healing was launched five years ago as a fundraiser for Worldwide Healing Hands missions,” Hike 4 Healing coordinator and WHH board member and supporter Anthy O’Brien.

Participants will hike more than six miles roundtrip up 1,600 feet along the trail. Docents walk with participants and are extremely informative and interesting with their knowledge of historical facts and stories about Mt. Konocti and surrounding areas. Hikers enjoy breathtaking views of Lake County and surrounding areas from a height of almost 4,000 feet.

Interested parties can sign up for the hike by visiting Dr. Paula Dhanda’s office at 5685 Main St. in Kelseyville or online at www.worldwidehealinghands.org/events.

A $25 donation is required. Last minute registrations will also be accepted the day of the event between 8-9 a.m., with the hike starting at 9 a.m. Water and snacks are provided.

Founded in 2011, Dhanda, MD, FACOG, FACS, leads WHH volunteer teams that travel to underserved areas of the world to train local physicians and midwives to provide healthcare services to women and children. WHH teams have traveled to Nepal, Chad, Uganda, and Haiti to provide skilled education that is integrated and used to save lives.

WHH volunteer medical teams are also active in Lake and neighboring counties, providing free health screenings to the growing homeless and indigent population as well as supporting recent fire victims with urgent care, supplies, and medication.
