LAKE COUNTY >> Both the City of Clearlake and Lakeport have announced their annual Cleanup Day events scheduled this Saturday, April 28.
In Clearlake, with help from the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce, Clearlake Waste Solutions, and Citizens Caring 4 Clearlake, volunteers, including elected officials, service clubs, citizens, and city staff, will spend the morning picking up trash and cleaning various areas in Clearlake.
According to Doug Herren, Public Works Director for the City of Clearlake, ”This event is a tradition in the City of Clearlake that has been going on for many years as a way to start off the tourist season.”
Volunteers are needed to provide the maximum impact on eliminating trash in our community.
Greg Folsom, City Manager, stated “I look forward to this event every year and seeing the dedication our citizens have to the community. Come out and show your pride in Clearlake by helping make Clearlake an even more beautiful place to live.”
The event will begin at 8 a.m. at Austin Park and will end at noon with hot dogs and refreshments. Volunteers can register at the event. Bags and tools will be provided.
In Lakeport, with cooperation from Lakeport Disposal Company, Inc., the event will take place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the public parking lot north of the Fifth Street boat ramp in downtown Lakeport.
Compliance officer with the city’s Public Works Department Andrew Britton said it is important to emphasize that the event is open to Lakeport residents only. Those dropping off trash and waste will be required to provide photo identification and a copy of a City of Lakeport utility bill.
Household trash, televisions, electronic waste, mattresses, household furniture, unusable clothes/blankets/towels and similar materials will be accepted. Refrigerators, hot tubs/spas, construction debris and Household Hazardous Waste, will not be accepted.
