SANTA ROSA >> St. Vincent High School of Petaluma wrapped up another Coastal Mountain Conference South golf championship on Tuesday during the final half of conference championships at par-72 Oakmont West in Santa Rosa.

St. Vincent (48-1) advances to the North Coast Section Championships on Monday as the South’s automatic representative. Kelseyville (42-7), the South runner-up, has applied for an at-large berth and will learn on Thursday if it will be taking its entire team to Metropolitan Golf Links in Oakalnd.

In the event Kelseyville is denied an at-large berth, the team’s top two players, Matt Wotherspoon and Mike Beverlin, will still advance to the sectionals as at-large golfers along with Geyserville’s Carson Kalbfleisch and St. Helena Douglas Collins. If Kelseyville does secure an at-large berth, the South’s at-large golfers will be Kalbfleisch, Collins, Middletown’s Derek Coulter and St. Helena’s Mitchell Wilms.

“Either way it’s been a successful season,” Kelseyville coach John Berry said of his 36th year as the school’s head coach. “I coached a lot of nice kids this year and we were able to take a lot of positives away from this season. Regardless of how it plays out (with the at-large berth), I’m pleased with the year we’ve had.”

Wotherspoon fired the low individual round on Tuesday, a 3-over-par 75 that included four birdies. St. Vincent’s Justin Peck was close behind at 77.

St. Vincent easily won the final match of the regular season with a team score of 323 (the combined rounds of the four lowest scorers), Kelseyville (373) held off St. Helena (376) for second place, Middletown was fourth at 395 and Credo came in fifth with 498. Technology and Geyserville had incomplete teams (fewer than four golfers) and Stony Point was a no-show.

Kelseyville’s team total included a 88 from Beverlin, a 100 from Jon Vanderwall, and a 110 from Lalo Sepulveda.

For Middletown, Coulter led the way with 93, Austin Pritchard had 98, Quentin Crayne finished at 101, and Josiah Pyzer had a 103.

The CMC South announced its All-Conference team immediately following play and Wotherspoon secured his second straight most valuable player award. Among those joining him on the All-Conference first team was teammate and fellow senior Beverlin, and Middletown junior Coulter. Of those players named to the second team were Kelseyville senior Vanderwall, Middletown sophomore Andrew Martz, and Middletown freshman Pritchard.
