CLEARLAKE >> A male bicyclist was left severely injured after a vehicle struck him from behind and fled the scene. Now authorities are asking the public to help identify the driver’s whereabouts.

According to a statement by the Clearlake Police Department, the incident occurred on Saturday, May 5 at 10:15 p.m. The bicyclist, a 22-year-old man, was riding northbound on the east shoulder of Old Highway 53, in the area of Clement Drive and Mendo Mill Lumber.

The vehicle, described as a blue, 1980s Dodge pickup truck, hit the rider from the back and caused him to be ejected from the bicycle and land on the northbound lane of the roadway.
