Clear Lake High School students had the opportunity to take learning to the outdoors in the name of science. Students in Mr. White’s physics class orchestrated a high-altitude weather balloon launch as their latest experiment of the year. The gas law experiment to test life in extreme conditions had a balloon carry a payload, equipped with two cameras. Using a GPS, students tracked humidity, temperatures, and pressure. The launch happened at 10:06 a.m. on Wednesday and was predicted to reach an altitude of 100,000 feet by noon in the area of Highlands Spring. More on page A5. – bob minenna — lake county publishing
