CLEARLAKE >> Ricky and Debra Bronson were welcomed into their new home in Clearlake, which escaped the flames of the Sulphur Fire last year.

Habitat for Humanity, the organization behind the construction of the home, had been working on the structure prior to the Clayton Fire and was then delayed after the October wildfires. The couple had lost their previous home due to a series of financial difficulties, said Tammy Brigham with Habitat for Humanity.

“We’re at a point in our lives where we just want to stop, to have a place that’s ours where we don’t have to worry about the future. Habitat came into our lives at the right time, and we’re glad for the opportunity we’ve been given,” said Ricky Bronson.

Habitat for Humanity encourages low-income first-time homebuyers interested in the prospect of homeownership, or those who lost a residence in one of Lake County’s wildfires to call 707-994-1100 x106 or come by the office at 15312 Lakeshore Drive, Clearlake for a pre-application.
