BERKELEY >> Bryson Trask of Lower Lake High School finished sixth out of a 24-man field in the shotput on Friday at the North Coast Section Meet of Champions at Edwards Stadium on the UC Berkeley campus.
Trask was one of four Lake County athletes in action on Friday at the Meet of Champions, joining Middletown’s Amy Herrmann (high jump), Kelsey Lemoine (100 meters) and Hanna Morris (discus). Four county athletes compete on Saturday — Herrmann and Clear Lake’s Paige Woodruff in the pole vault, Middletown’s Taelor Roderick in the shotput and Middletown’s Colton Hall in the discus.
The top three finishers in each event qualify for the CIF State Championships on June 1-2 at Buchanan High School in Clovis.

Herrmann had the next-highest finish after Trask, taking eighth in the high jump after clearing 5 feet even. The top three finishers cleared 5-1 or better, with Katie Hurst of Fortuna winning at 5-6.
Lemoine placed 19th in the 100 preliminaries with a time of 13.07 seconds. The top eight qualifiers move on to Saturday’s finals. A time of 12.48 was needed to qualify. The fast qualifier was Trinity Bolden of Pittsburg at 11.99.
