LAKEPORT >> Among 13 other entries, Kyle Moore received this year’s Best of Show Award for the 2018 Model Car Building Competition for Kelseyville High Power Ag students.
At the start of the school year, participating students began the building process of their scale model cars, readying them for judges. The panel of judges from the NNCC was Greg DelGrande, Matt Cockerton, Arland Souza, Derek Butchor and Rick Thompson.
This is the program’s fourth, consecutive year, and has grown popularity among students and the community, according to NNCC project coordinator Richard Hernaez. The program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to develop hands-on assembly skills and an appreciation for automotive craftsmanship and design.
“This program, created by car club members, attempts to reach out to our young students to share in a common interest and foster motivation and skills in growing minds,” said Hernaez.
The cars will be on display at the Model Competition Booth tomorrow, June 2, at the Wood & Glory car show awards at the Konocti Vista Casino, where each student will be recognized for their entries. The public will have the opportunity to vote for the People’s Choice Award Trophy winner at noon.
