KELSEYVILLE >> The Lake County Deputy Sheriff’s Association (LCDSA) invites the public to the Annual Christmas in July Fundraising Barbeque at Boatique Winery on Saturday, July 28. The event benefits the Shop with a Cop program, where law enforcement officers shop with various children in need for the holiday season. During the Shop with A Cop event, each child was paired with a law enforcement officer to spend $200 on items that they wanted or needed. The shopping experience provides children with an opportunity to interact with an officer and create positive lifelong memories with law enforcement and shop for the festive season. Since 2015, the LCDSA continues to support the worthy cause with the help of the Bay Area Deputy Sheriff’s Charitable Foundation and others after the Valley Fire. Members of the LCDSA as well as other law enforcement employee associations have contributed money and their time to make Shop with a Cop a success in the past. The July 2017 Christmas in July event raised almost $17,000. The LCDSA is looking for businesses and private parties who may want to become co-sponsors of the event or donate raffle items or services. For a minimum $500 a business will be listed as a co-sponsor on the LCDSA Facebook page and at the Shop with A Cop event in December on a banner. Those interested will also be recognized at the Dinner at Boatique. Raffle items are crucial to the income of the event and are appreciated. Anyone interested in becoming a co-sponsor or to donate a raffle item should email lake.co.dsa.christmasinjuly@gmail.com or call 707-413-7695.
