YOLO >> Investigators have determined an improperly installed electric livestock fence unit caused the County Fire, the largest blaze currently burning in California, Cal Fire said Wednesday.

The state agency said the responsible party had been cited for the burning of lands of another.

Cal Fire did not release details on the cause, including what led investigators to believe the electric fence started the fire, but more information is expected to be released as it becomes available.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the County Fire, burning in Yolo and Napa counties, was 90,288 acres and 86-percent contained.

The blaze, which began on Saturday, June 30, has destroyed 20 structures and damaged three. No injuries or fatalities have been reported.

Full containment is expected by the end of the week.

Cal Fire urges residents to follow proper installation and operation guidelines when installing or operating equipment that can cause a wildland fire. To learn more, visit www.readyforwildfire.org/One-Less-Spark-Campaign-Toolkit/.
