Literacy tutor
Become a literacy tutor by volunteering for the Lake County Adult Literacy program. The next training is Tuesday, July 24 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Redbud Library, 34785 Burns Valley Rd., Clearlake. Training is free, with a $25 materials donation request. No experience is needed. To register call 263-7633.
Drivers and servers needed
The Middletown Senior Center is in need of Meals and Wheels drivers and dining room servers. There is a spot opening up for a driver in Middletown. The route from start (loading meals into your vehicle) to finish (returning containers to the Center) takes approximately an hour and a half. There will be days when you will be the only outside contact a senior will enjoy. This is a nice way for seniors to remain in their homes.
Also available are openings in the dining room. This entails serving lunches and clearing tables from approximately 10:45 a.m. (set-up) until 1 p.m. (clearing tables).
Those interested should call Tessie or Lori at 987-3113. Drivers enjoy a free lunch and are eligible for reimbursement for their mileage. Servers, also, enjoy a free lunch.
Live Oaks Senior Center, located at 12502 Foothill Blvd., Clearlake Oaks, is looking to increase its volunteer staff at this time. Anyone interested can volunteer once a week or several days each week serving or one who delivers Meals on Wheels.

Opportunities at Sutter Lakeside Hospital
Sutter Lakeside Hospital has multiple available positions, including shifts in the gift shop, the Family Birth Center, the Intensive Care Unit and the Surgery waiting room.
Volunteers should be friendly and eager to provide a stellar experience to patients and their families. Hours are flexible; shifts are typically four hours.
