EUREKA >> Lexey Wurm served six aces, four of them late in set two, as the Clear Lake High School junior varsity volleyball team defeated Eureka 25-17, 25-18 in non-league action Friday evening in Eureka.
The match is part of a northern road trip for coach Morgan Psalmonds’ Cardinals (2-1), who return to action Saturday in the eight-team Arcata Tournament.
“We’ll get to face Eureka again,” Psalmonds said of Saturday’s tournament. “They put us in the toughest bracket.”
Clear Lake had a big night at the service line Friday with 16 team aces.
“It was a great team effort tonight,” Psalmonds said. “Everybody did what they’re supposed to do.”
Clear Lake is home Monday to play Anderson Valley.
