T-minus two days and counting until the Clear Lake Cardinals open a new football season at home on Friday night against Colusa, a rematch of last year’s season opener won 34-28 by the RedHawks in Colusa. Clear Lake is coming off an impressive outing against defending North Central League I champion Middletown at last week’s scrimmage in Lakeport. During a Tuesday practice, the Cardinals spent time going over offensive formations as they prepare for their season opener. Third-year coach Mark Cory said the 2018 club could be his best yet at the school. Junior varsity action Friday kicks off at 5:30 p.m. at Don Owens Stadium.
