RED BLUFF — Clear Lake High School’s varsity volleyball team finished 3-3 and won the silver division of the Red Bluff Tournament on Friday in Red Bluff.
Matched against some large schools in pool play, the Cardinals lost their first three matches. After falling to West Valley 25-19, 25-13, Willows 25-11, 25-20 and Chico 25-4, 25-13, Clear Lake bounced back with a 25-18, 25-13 victory over Biggs.
Moved to the silver division following pool play, the Cardinals beat Mount Shasta 25-17, 25-9 in the semifinals and Orland 25-11, 25-21 in the finals.
“We beat the teams we should have beat and lost to the teams we should have lost to,” Clear Lake coach Marci Psalmonds said.
Clear Lake resumes its North Central League I schedule Tuesday in Middletown. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m. with the varsity match to follow.
