The Cancer Resource Centers of Mendocino County has received a grant for $25,000 from the Safeway Foundation. The funds will be used to support the Cancer Resource Centers’ breast cancer patient navigation program.
“This gift will have a tremendous impact,” said CRC Executive Director Karen Oslund. “Breast cancer patients make up one-third of our total clients, so this will enable us to serve them with personalized, direct help.”
CRC provides information, support and advocacy to over 400 cancer patients each year. They provide regular cancer support groups, medical visit accompaniment and note-taking, a cancer resource lending library, and wigs, hats, bras, scarves and prosthetics, all free of charge. CRC has an inland office in Ukiah and a coastal office in Mendocino, and serves cancer patients throughout Mendocino County.
“It’s an honor to support the work of the Cancer Resource Centers of Mendocino County,” said Wendy Gutshall of Safeway Foundation. “Every day we learn about organizations that go above and beyond to help people in need. Such selfless dedication makes our communities better places to live and work.”
