LAKEPORT— The ReRunway Secondhand Fashion Show fundraiser will offer outrageous fashion and contagious fun at Boatique Winery on Friday, Oct. 5. Tickets to the event, which begins at 5 p.m., are available at www.sutterhealth.org/rerunway, or by calling (707) 262 -5121.
The third annual event, hosted by Sutter Lakeside Hospital, benefits cancer services at the hospital, such as free cancer navigation. Tickets include wine, dinner and a secondhand fashion show that’s sure to entertain.
For the last two years, more than140 models have sported thrift store fashion to amused audiences of 100 or more. Groups and individuals pick themes and strut their stuff on the catwalk for a cause, and themes range from funky to fabulous. The money raised has funded two years of navigation services for nearly 200 local women, about 30 of whom are diagnosed with breast cancer per year. Navigation services provide emotional support and counseling, as well as help scheduling appointments, surgery and follow up care.
“Navigation has become the standard of care for cancer patients,” said Dan Peterson, chief administrative officer at Sutter Lakeside Hospital. “Because of the positive feedback from our breast cancer patients, we aim to expand navigation across diagnoses.”
Statistically, about one in three people will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime according to the American Cancer Society.
