CLEARKLAKE— According to information released by the Clearlake Police Department, Wednesday around 11 a.m. the department received a report from staff at Lake County Behavioral Health of a man threatening to shoot employees at their office. During the investigation, it was discovered 32-year-old Spring Valley resident Michael McDaniel had called Lake County Behavioral Health and spoke with two staff members. McDaniel threatened to come to their office in Clearlake and shoot employees. According to law enforcement, McDaniel stated he had numerous firearms in his possession and he had murdered people in the past. McDaniel was believed to be at work during the time of the threats at an unknown location, in Napa County.
The Clearlake Police Department Investigations Unit authored a search warrant for McDaniel’s residence in Spring Valley to search for firearms and related items. The search warrant was later approved by a Lake County Superior Court Judge.
On Wednesday around 9 p.m., Clearlake Police personnel served the search warrant at McDaniel’s residence. McDaniel was not located at home, but was found at a neighboring residence and arrested for felony criminal threats. McDaniel was transported to the Lake County Jail.
No firearms were located in the home or in McDaniel’s car.
