Fatal falls in Yosemite
A male and female visitor to Yosemite National Park were found dead Thursday morning after an apparent fall from Taft Point.
Park officials recovered the bodies, but said they have not yet determined the identities of the couple or how they might have fallen.
Taft Point has been one of Yosemite’s iconic tourist spots for more than 100 years. Located near the end of Glacier Point Road, the overlook has sweeping views of Yosemite Valley, Yosemite Falls and El Capitan.
Named for President William Howard Taft, who visited it in 1909, the point sits 3,500 feet above Yosemite Valley and has been a site of countless photos over the decades.
Anyone falling from it would fall roughly two-thirds of a mile, or nearly three times the height of the Empire State Building, to Yosemite Valley below.

Three more white supremacists arrested
Three more members of a Southern California-based militant, white-supremacist group – one from Orange County and two from the South Bay – have been arrested on suspicion of carrying out violent attacks at political rallies across Southern California last year, and a fourth was still being sought, federal authorities said Wednesday.
Robert Paul Rundo, 28, of Huntington Beach, an alleged leader of the Rise Above Movement, was taken into custody Sunday at Los Angeles International Airport after he arrived from Central America, FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said.
Wednesday morning, Robert Boman, 25, and Tyler Laube, 22, were apprehended at their homes in Torrance and Redondo Beach, respectively, officials said. Aaron Eason, 38, of Anza, was being sought by authorities.
Rundo appeared in federal court in downtown Los Angeles Wednesday morning and was ordered to remain jailed without bail. His attorney denied allegations that he was leading RAM or that he was involved in a pattern of “escalating’” violence.
Boman and Laube also appeared before a judge Wednesday and were ordered to remain in federal custody pending trial.
Laube has criminal convictions in the South Bay, including robbery and possessing a switchblade, according to court records. Boman pleaded no contest to robbery in Torrance Superior Court in 2013 and was sentenced to two years in prison.
According to court documents, the men coordinated trips over three months to rallies in Huntington Beach, Berkeley and San Bernardino, where they assaulted counter-protesters, journalists and a police officer.
