UPPER LAKE — The Cougars Small School Round Robin Tournament field is set and the three-day tournament for varsity boys and girls basketball teams tips off Nov. 29 at the Upper Lake High School gym.
This year’s field features host Upper Lake, Potter Valley, Ferndale and Willits in the boys division and Upper Lake, Potter Valley, Ferndale and Point Arena in the girls division. Each team plays every other team in its division one time under the tournament format. Winners are determined by overall record with tiebreakers if necessary.
Tournament sponsors are Treasure Cove Pizza, Running Creek Casino, Robinson Rancheria Grill, the Blue Wing Cafe, and Carls Jr.
The tournament schedule Nov. 29 has Potter Valley vs. Ferndale (3:30 p.m.) and Upper Lake vs. Point Arena (6:30 p.m.) in the girls division and Potter Valley vs. Ferndale (5 p.m.) and Upper Lake vs. Willits (8 p.m.) in the boys division.
The Nov. 30 schedule has Ferndale vs. Point Arena (3:30 p.m.) and Upper Lake vs. Potter Valley (6:30 p.m.) in the girls division and Ferndale vs. Willits (5 p.m.) and Upper Lake vs. Potter Valley (8 p.m.) in the boys division.
The Dec. 1 schedule has Point Arena vs. Potter Valley (1:30 p.m.) and Upper Lake vs. Ferndale (4:30 p.m.) in the girls division and Willits vs. Potter Valley (3 p.m.) and Upper Lake vs. Ferndale (6 p.m.) in the boys division.
Upper Lake’s varsity boys finished 18-9 overall last season, including a 10-6 record in the North Central League II. Upper Lake’s varsity girls are coming off an 11-15 season in 2017-18, including a 5-11 mark in league play.
