MIDDLETOWN—The Clearlake Police Department (Sergeant Rodd Joseph and School Resource Officer Stephanie Green) along with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office (Captain Chris Chwialkowski) participated in Mt. Diablo and Silverado Council Cub Scout Pack 315’s “Safety and Forensics Night,” hosted at the Middletown Library earlier this month. This meeting was to help Cub Scouts earn their “Community Leader Badge.”
According to information made public by law enforcement officials, the Cub Scout Pack learned about law enforcement’s role in the community, making positive life choices, how and when to call 911. In addition, the Cub Scouts learned how police K-9’s are used, skills, tools and techniques law enforcement officers use to help solve crimes, and some of the main differences between police officers and sheriff deputies. The Cub Scout Pack also had their fingerprint’s taken by the officers so parents would have them if ever needed and helped solve a mock crime scene by evidence collection and analysis.
Participants said it was a fun and educational time by all. “We would like to thank Dion and Karen Arcado, the Den Leaders, for having us and all the parents involved in helping make this happen,” the officers noted.
