CLEARLAKE — On November 13, Clearlake Police officers conducted an enforcement operation targeting shopping centers and parks. This operation was in direct response to complaints regarding perceived safety at these locations.

During the operations, 17 people were cited and one arrested on probable cause for various violations including narcotic and alcohol related offenses and city ordinance violations. There were also warrants of arrests served for two of the subjects.

“We encourage you to make use of our public parks and visit our shopping centers. This helps us send the message that illegal behavior at these locations will not be tolerated as we work to make Clearlake a cleaner, safer city,” reads a message from CPD.

Comments on the CPD Facebook page described residents’ relief at the removal of individuals using illegal substances in parks.

In answer to one online question, the CPD responded that it is indeed illegal to use marijuana in a public park.
