LAKEPORT — Breaking open a competitive game at halftime, the Clear Lake High School varsity boys basketball team made its unofficial season debut Tuesday night with a 56-37 victory over the Ukiah Wildcats in a North Coast Section Foundation Game at the Clear Lake High gym in Lakeport.
Foundation games are fundraisers for NCS athletic scholarships and do not count as wins or losses for the competing teams. Clear Lake’s official season opener is Nov. 30 in the opening round of the inaugural Paul Larrea Memorial Tournament in Lakeport.
The Cardinals will play another exhibition of sorts Wednesday night when they host a pair of alumni games. Older alumni will play members of the 2018-19 junior varsity team beginning at 5 p.m. Younger alumni take on the 2018-19 varsity boys team at 6:30 p.m.
