LAKEPORT— On Dec. 1, the Lakeport branch of the Lake County Library will offer two free events for people interested in fabric and button crafts. The library is located at 1425 N. High St.

The library’s Fabric Club will hold its inaugural meeting at 10 a.m. The library will provide fabric and thread from a “fabric stash” that includes quilting cotton, flannel, corduroy and other types of fabric. Guests will bring other supplies sewing machines, and their own projects or choose a project from Creativebug’s video library. The motto of Fabric Club is “Share, learn, create” Club members will share their knowledge, learn from each other and create projects. The club is free and open to the public.

At 2 p.m. Amy Patton will demonstrate how to make jewelry and other items from buttons. Class guests will select the projects that they want to work on. The library will supply buttons and other materials, and guests are welcome to bring their own supplies.

Lake County is one of 10  libraries across California that have received grants to create community-driven makerspaces through a pilot program from the California State Library and the Center for Childhood Creativity at the Bay Area Discovery Museum. Funding for Fabric Club and Creativebug comes from this grant.
