Kids Experience at Twin Pine Holiday Faire
The Lake County Rural Arts Initiative (LCRAI) will host a kids art experience during the 2018 Twin Pine Holiday Faire. LCRAI will have two murals in which kids will help paint. One will be a Christmas scene and the other is a tribal theme. This is a free art project for children. In addition to painting a square on a mural, the children will get to paint a personal ornament to take home for the holidays! Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian while they express their creativity in the booth.
The Twin Pine Casino & Hotel annual Holiday Faire is on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 8 and 9, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Browse and shop local vendors, artisa
ns and craft booths while enjoying some fresh cider and cookies. Santa will also make an appearance.

UKIAH
Fatal accident near Hopland
A Ukiah man was killed late Wednesday night when his car careened off Highway 175 and crashed into a power pole, the California Highway Patrol reported.
According to the CHP, Jonathan Pejana, 24, was westbound on Hwy. 175 in a 2001 Acura Integra around 11:45 p.m. Nov. 28 in heavy rain. Pejana was reportedly traveling at a “high rate of speed” when he lost control of the car just east of Highway 101 and it crashed into a power pole.
First-responders found Pejana trapped inside the vehicle, and personnel from the Hopland Fire Department used hydraulic rescue tools, often called the Jaws of Life, to remove him from the vehicle. He was taken to Adventist Health Ukiah Valley for treatment, but later died from his injuries.
The CHP reports that neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to have been contributing factors in the collision, which “cut power to the Hopland area for several hours.”
The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office and Cal Fire also responded to the scene.
