LAKE COUNTY—  Nominations are being accepted for the 21st Annual Stars of Lake County Community Awards which will be held on Saturday, Feb. 9 at the Soper Reese Theater.   A full list of all Stars recipients is available on the Lake County website: www.lakecochamber.com.  Nominations can be submitted by anyone and please remember that details are very important, especially the contact information for your nominee.  The Chamber sends a letter to every nominee when we receive their nomination.

Currently we have received two student nominations and one for the Marla Ruzicka Humanitarian Award.  This year at the request of Sheriff Brian Martin, a new category has been added: Public Safety Award – An individual peace officer, firefighter or EMS first responder who distinguished him/herself by engaging in activity that had an enduring impact on our community, either through their official or personal capacity.  With the addition of this category, Stars now stands at 22 available categories.

Nomination forms and category information can be found at www.lakecochamber.com with the deadline for nominations Monday, Jan. 21 by close of business, or postmarked by Jan. 21.  All of us work with and volunteer with very deserving people and organizations that deserve to be recognized for the work they do to make life in Lake County special.

Stars would not be possible without community sponsorships and to date we have the following sponsors:  Cliff & Nancy Ruzicka, Disney Trophies & Awards, U.S. Representative Mike Thompson, Sheriff Brian Martin, Lake County Record Bee and Calpine Corporation.  Many of our sponsors over the life of this community awards program return year after year and we shall announce those as they are received. If you have an interest in sponsoring an award, call the Chamber at 263-5092.

The Stars Selection Committee will be reviewing all nominations and will be meeting on Jan. 31 to cast their secret ballot votes.  The Committee is comprised of 12 individuals from various areas of Lake County.

Tickets for Stars are available now through the office of the Lake County Chamber and are $22 per person.  All Nominees receive one free ticket to Stars.

For more information or if you have questions about Stars, please contact Melissa Fulton, CEO/CTA at (707) 263-5092.
