This week’s epistle reading deals with the parts of the body of the church of Christ. Are you a mouth?  An eye?  A hand?  Think about it. We all have our function.  You may think that church is a consumer affair…you come and sit, soak up what you can, and go home.  But each member also gives.  Mouths talk.  Eyes observe.  Hands work.  Feet carry us to new places.  If any of us fails to participate, the whole body suffers.  Without a working hand or foot or eye, the Body is handicapped.

We also consider the mission of the whole Body of Galilee in our community.  The Gospel this week contains this message from Jesus, quoting Isaiah:
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

Not a bad mission statement.

So let’s together and proclaim some good news, set some oppressed people free, and restore some sight to the blind!

Galilee Lutheran Church meets in our separate parts, yet all together, at 8860 Soda Bay Road in the Kelseyville Rivieras every Sunday morning at 10 a.m.  See you here!
