UPPER LAKE – Lake Family Resource Center’s (Lake FRC) California HOPE project, along with Upper Lake Senior Support Center, is offering an ongoing Conversations for Community Resilience group at the Upper Lake Senior Support Center, 9410 Mendenhall Avenue in Upper Lake. The group occurs on the first and third Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to noon and is free and open to the public.

Facilitated by Lake FRC Cal HOPE outreach workers, the Conversations for Community Resilience is a casual gathering of community members impacted by the recent fires where attendees can share experiences and resources, learn about individual and community reactions to disaster, brainstorm next steps, and learn simple self care approaches to support natural resilience.

“What we’ve learned through these large scale disasters in the past few years is that recovery is a marathon, not a sprint,” noted Program Manager and Lake FRC Executive Director, Lisa Morrow. “Our individual and community recovery is positively supported through coming together with other survivors, reaching out for temporary help, and taking good care of ourselves. Our Lake FRC Cal HOPE team is here to help our community do just that.”

The Lake FRC California HOPE project provides free and anonymous services to individuals, families,  groups and organizations affected by recent fires.  Outreach teams provide information and linkage to resources, emotional support and community networking opportunities. They also offer education about individual and community reactions to disasters for groups, businesses and organizations.

Services are provided by Lake FRC through a grant from Lake County Behavioral Health Services.  For more information on Lake FRC California HOPE, visit www.lakefrc.org/calhope or www.Facebook.com/Lake FRC: California Hope or call 707-349-5203.
