KELSEYVILLE— Lake County Special Olympics will hold its annual plunge into Clearlake on February 23 at Lakeside County Park in Kelseyville. Registration begins at 10 am, costume judging will be at 11:45 and the plunge will take place at noon. A post plunge luncheon will be hosted by the Kelseyville Lions Club after the plunge.

This event is held nationwide as a fundraiser for Special Olympic athletes. Every dollar donated is used to benefit local athletes. The money is used for equipment, uniforms and transportation to out of county tournaments. By participating in Special Olympics athletes gain self confidence, discipline and other important life skills. We are an all volunteer organization.

Everyone can help! You can be a plunger, a chicken (and still earn prizes), or make a donation. To participate one must raise $125 and then you receive a long sleeve t-shirt. More prizes are earned as one raises more money. To register or for more information visit our website: LakeCountyPolarPlunge.com or a donation can be mailed to Lake County Special Olympics, P.O. Box 94, Lakeport CA 95453

What is a Polar Plunge?

The Polar Plunge is a unique opportunity for individuals, organizations, and businesses to support Lake County athletes by jumping into icy, cold Clear Lake on Feb. 23, 2019.  The Plunge is not a swim, it is a fundraiser! Plungers must raise a minimum of $125 in donations to participate. Don’t want to dip but still want to help? Register as a “chicken” and you’ll be excused from plunging.

How to Register

Participants can register and set up their own personal or team web page at LakeCountyPolarPlunge.com. You can set up your own web page and email family, friends and coworkers to support your plunge. $125 earns you a Polar Plunge long sleeved t-shirt and free admittance to the post Plunge party.  More incentive prizes are received at higher levels of donations.  Don’t worry, people registered as chickens receive all the same prizes.

Why take the Plunge?

Special Olympics provides year round sports training and competition opportunities for children and adults with intellectual disabilities for free.  By participating in Special Olympics, athletes gain self-confidence and self-esteem that carries over into their everyday lives, giving them the opportunity to be a contributing member in our local community.  All money raised will support local, Lake County athletes. This is our only source of funding, we receive no government dollars.
